Hermann Oberth

In this 1950s era photo, Dr. Von Braun, right, is flanked by other prominent rocket and space colleagues. General Holger Toftoy is standing. Dr. Hermann Oberth is in the foreground. Dr. Ernst Stuhlinger is seated.

Hermann Oberth and Major Von Keviczky meet on February 25, 1980. Dr. Hermann Oberth, The father of the astronautics already thought at this time that UFOs existed and that they could come from another planet.

Rocket pioneers Hermann Oberth and Walter Riedel have frequently been supporters of the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis (ETH) and have been involved in UFO research. Germany has several UFO organizations, of which the Deutsche UFO/IFO-Stu-Diengesellschaft (DUIST) is best-known overseas.

Once Brown’s findings became well known, some scientists began to openly speak about the flying technology of UFOs, which had been observed extensively since the 1940s. None other than Professor Hermann Oberth, considered by some to be one of the fathers of the space age, who later worked in the US with Wernher von Braun, the Army Ballistic Missile Agency and NASA, stated the following in 1954: It is my thesis that flying saucers are real and that they are space ships from another solar system.

— Theodore C. Loder, III

It is my thesis that flying saucers are real and that they are space ships from another solar system. I think that they possibly are manned by intelligent observers who are members of a race that may have been investigating our earth for centuries. I think that they possibly have been sent out to conduct systematic, long-range investigations, fir of men, animals, vegetation and more recently of atomic centers, armaments and centers of armament production.

— Hermann Oberth

We cannot take credit for our record advancement in certain scientific fields alone. We have been helped. When asked by whom, he replied, the peoples of other worlds.

— Hermann Oberth

These objects (UFO’s) are conceived and directed by intelligent beings of a very high order. They do not originate in our solar system, perhaps not in our galaxy.

— Hermann Oberth

UFOs are conceived and directed by intelligent beings of a very high order, and they are propelled by distorting the gravitational field, converting gravity into useable energy.
There is no doubt in my mind that these objects are interplanetary craft of some sort. I and my colleagues are confident that they do not originate in our solar system, but we feel that they may use Mars or some other body as a sort of way station.

— Hermann Oberth

Regarding the UFOs, there is only one explanation, which until now has not been refuted, namely the Major Keyhoe-hypothesis, that UFOs are spaceships from other planets.

— Hermann Oberth

One leading scientist who is convinced that UFO’s are spaceships using gravity control is Dr. Hermann Oberth. Doctor Oberth, a recognized authority, was co-designer of the V-2 rocket and later a U.S. special consultant at Huntsville, Alabama, one of the installations where important antigravity research is now underway.

— Maj. Donald E. Keyhoe

OCT. 4 Keyhoe is asked to lunch by Robert Hohman and someone named C.D. Jackson, senior engineer for a notable electronics company, name withheld.
NOV. 3 Hohman and Jackson write the Hills asking for an interview. They tell the Hills that they are serious minded men whose interest is in verifying the origin of these vehicles according to existing scientific theory maintained by Hermann Oberth.

— John G. Fuller

As for Homan and C D Jackson, they were research scientists, working at top level government jobs. Their hobby was ufos. As a job protection for them, we agreed not to release their employment, altho it was well known to us. C D Jackson was never associated with Time/Life. We had continuing contacts with them. Jackson, in 1966, was still working in Alabama, at the same employment.
As for Hohman and Jackson, they had attended some kind of Geological Conference in Washington DC and met Donald Keyhoe there. After the Conference they told him they had a hobby, and interest in flying saucers (the term at that time) He let them read Walt Webb’s report of his meeting with us.

— Barbara Becker

“Oberth, mad! You don’t know what he knows or what we know, he is not mistaken! Oberth never said anything that was irrational and theoretically wrong, why don’t you listen.” — Dr Martin Schilling (PhD in Applied Physics worked on the V2 project at Peenemunde with Dr. von Braun , Marshall Space Flight Centre, Raytheon Company) response to a staff member passing judgment against the brilliant rocket pioneer, Professor Hermann Oberth (1894-1989) mocking him as being nuts for his belief that craft from other worlds existed.

— John W. Auchettl

Hermann Oberth made a considerable contribution to astronautics. More than 200 relations and laws on mathematical, physical and technical pricipals.
Wernher Von Braun said of Oberth that he had been he first ‘who, starting from thoughts on the possibility of spaceflight, got out his slide rule and turned the propositions of studies and concepts into mathematical calculations’ — Hans Barth, Cambridge Enclyclopedia Of Space.

UFOs Pre-WWII:
There are about 50 observations known from the time before World War II, then the number of appearances increased; The Allies thought it was a German secret weapon, and the Germans thought it was one of the Allies.

ET Place Of Origin:
From another solar system manned by intelligent observers who are members of a race investigating our earth for centuries. We must look at other stellar systems nearest us belonging to the same spectographic type of our own.

ET Base In Solar System:
I and my colleagues are confident that they do not originate in our solar system, but we feel that they may use Mars or some other body as a sort of way station.

“Young man, yes we had such an encounter with a power that appears advanced beyond ours here. Stronger than we have assumed and unknown to us where their base is located. I cannot say much more other than we are entering into a closer contact with these unknown powers and perhaps within a short time, a few months or so of time, we will be capable of saying more.” –Wernher Von Braun.

Types Of UFO/ET Craft:
Disc

Cigar

Ellipsoid

Sphere

Merge/Seperate:
Sometimes these disks place one upon the other, the largest in the center, the smallest toward the ends, to form an object the shape of a cigar, which then flies away with high speed. A cigar shaped craft then will stop and untie into seperate disks.

UFO Flight Characteristics:
The disks always fly in a manner as if the drive is acting perpendicular to the plane of the disk.

When they are suspended over a certain terrain they keep horizontal.

When they want to fly very quick, they tilt (tip) and fly with the plane directed forward.

UFO Speed, Acceleration:
Their speed is sometimes very high, 19 km/sec has been measured with wireless measuring instruments (radar). Accelerations are so high that no man could stand it; he would be pressed to the wall and bruised. The accuracy of such measurements has not been doubted. If there would be only 3 or 4 measurements, I would not rely upon them and would wait for further measurements, but there is existing more than 50 such measurements; the wireless sets (radar) of the American Air Force and Navy, which are used in all fighters, cannot be so inaccurate that the information obtained with them can be doubted completely.

UFO Propulsion:
Artificial fields of gravity.

Distorting the gravitational field, converting gravity into useable energy.

Producing high-tension electric charges in order to push the air out of their paths, so it does not start glowing, and strong magnetic fields to influence the ionized air at higher altitudes.

UFO Appearance:
In sunlight:

Which is brighter than their own gleaming, they appear glittering like metal.

Luminous at night:
Dark orange/cherry red = If not much power is necessary for the particular movement, suspended calm.

Yellow/copper flame color = Increased brightness if more drive power is necessary.

Extreme white = In a high state of speed.

Note: Hermann Oberth’s supposed testimony on the V-7 reads similar to the UFO testimony by John F. Schuessler International Director Mutual UFO Network, Inc. June, 2002.

Though the majority of aviation experts are completely sceptical, it is difficult to disregard altogether the testimony of Professor Hermann Oberth, one of the great pioneers in astronautics and the teacher of Wernher non Braun, who claimed, rather extravagantly, that the V-7 and various modifications were responsible for many UFO reports during the closing stages of the war:

At the end of the war we developed, first in Prague, then in Vienna, the V-7 helicopter – this could easily have been mistaken for a flying saucer. Instead of having rotor blades like an ordinary helicopter, the V-7 had rotating tubes which released an ‘exhaust’ of flame. As the tubes rotated, the helicopter appeared to have a circle of flame around it, and at a distance it looked like a shinning disc. When it hovered, the flame was dark-red and dim. At higher speeds the disc appeared lighter and the flame looked yellowish, then white. At its highest speed…the V-7 tipped over an flew on its side. A significant feature is that it was extremely noisy in flight, and produced a thick trail in the stratosphere.
